Stocks To Watch (ACAS, ATML,AXS, BDX)


American Capital Ltd. (NASDAQ: ACAS) shares declined 2.43% to $7.24 in pre-market session after the company reported a third quarter net loss of $464 million or $1.34 a share. On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.20 a share for the quarter. Total operating income declined to $130 million from $142 million last year. Wall Street expected revenues of $144.17 million.

Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML) shares fell 3.1% to $9.96 after the company reported third quarter profit of $116.7 million or $0.25 a share on revenue of $479.4 million, ahead of analysts’ estimates of 20 cents a share on revenue of $483 million.

Axis Capital Holdings Limited (NYSE: AXS) the company reported net income for the third quarter of 2011 of $212 million, or $1.66 per share, compared with $239 million, or $1.78 per share, for the third quarter of 2010. Operating income for the third quarter of 2011 was $95 million, or $0.74 a share, as against $189 million, or $1.41 per share, for the third quarter of 2010.

Becton, Dickinson and Co. (NYSE: BDX) slumped 6.60% to $71.10 after the company reported fourth quarter profit of $299.98 million or $1.36 per share, on revenues of $2.05 billion. Analysts, on an average, expected the company to report earnings of $1.39 per share on revenue of 2.02 billion.
